December is just days away and most of you are probably well under way with your holiday preparations. Another thing that many of us will be starting to think about is what we want to achieve in the new year. Every time one year ends, another begins and there is always a huge number of possibilities which come our way.
Many of us want to lose weight, achieve a life goal or start a new career – but many of us also want to feel confident in our bodies and minds. To feel more confident in the new year, here are some tips for you to try!
– Imagine the person you want to be.
Take some time to sit down and imagine a version of yourself that you can be proud of. It could be that you are a happier, more outgoing individual, or you are fitter and more athletic or you are better at doing your makeup. It is when we look at ourselves from this point of view that we can decide on the aspects we want to change. It could be that you are insecure about your weight and you need to start changing your diet, or maybe you don’t like your smile and you want to get some braces with a dentist such as Dr. Thomas Armstrong, DMD. Once we know who we want to be and how to make ourselves more confident, we can take the time to find out exactly how to achieve our goals.
– Create positive affirmations.
We always lean towards believing in our own image of ourselves. If the image we have of ourselves is negative, we will believe we aren’t good enough. One way to combat this feeling is to constantly say positive affirmations to yourself and make sure you always feel good in your own skin. If we tell ourselves that we look good or we are talented, after a while we will start to believe these thing. And we’ll feel so much better about ourselves.
– Take yourself out of your comfort zone.
If you find that you are a very anxious or nervous person and tend to hide away in your shell, you are never going to feel confident and be able to tackle the world. Every day, take yourself out of that comfort zone and do something that scares you. It will be difficult at first but once you do this regularly you will realize that there was never anything to be scared about. You are capable of anything if you put your heart and soul into it.
– Set yourself up for success.
The single best way to make yourself feel confident is to succeed in something you never thought you could. This could be an exam, a career goal or even something within your personal life. Setting yourself small achievable goals and then praising yourself when you complete them will make you much more confident in yourself. Make lots of to-do lists and make it a habit of ticking things off, giving yourself that sense of achievement.
