Motivation seems to be a very real and very constant struggle for many people. You’re trying to reach your goal but you just lack motivation. It doesn’t matter if your goal is to get a promotion, to start a business, to lose weight – or even to clean your house. No matter what your end result is, the struggle is the same – you keep procrastinating, which doesn’t help get you to that result.
Here is a list of 5 easy ways to get motivated and get moving towards your goals:
1. Make A Daily To-Do List
Making a to-do list is a great way to get motivated. You’ll have a clear, structured, step-by-step list of things to do for your day. When you complete one of your tasks, you feel accomplished and productive. The feeling of crossing an item off of your list just feels satisfying – which motivates you to complete even more! Just make sure that your to-do list is practical and realistic. Seeing a big, long list of stuff that you didn’t get done will make you feel even more unmotivated.
2. Reward Yourself
Obviously, rewards make you happy. Research shows that people have more motivation if they have some sort of incentive for completing a goal. 3. Find Inspiration
Read an inspiring book, look at inspiring quotes on Pinterest, create a vision board, daydream about where you want to be in life and how happy you’ll be if you get yourself there, Google success stories about other people who accomplished their goals. 4. Go Slow If You Need To
Do you have a huge, intimidating goal that you’re trying to accomplish? Sometimes huge goals can be scary. Break your bigger goal down into smaller, manageable goals – you can even make a list of tiny, micro-goals. This will help you take it one step at a time instead of feeling lost and overwhelmed. Write down each step you’ll need to take to accomplish the scary goal and cross off the steps as you complete them. This will help keep you motivated and help you stay on the right path to make sure you’re doing what you need to get done. It doesn’t matter how slow you get there, as long as you get there eventually.
5. Just Do It
Nike got it right – the best and biggest way to get motivated is to just start doing things. 🙂 If you wait for motivation to naturally strike, you’ll be waiting for a very long time, my friend. The reality is, if you want to get things done, you just need to do them. Nothing will get done if you just sit around and procrastinate. The more you accomplish, the more motivated you’ll feel to do even more. Tip: tackle your biggest, scariest tasks first – that way the rest of the tasks seem easier and less daunting.
