“This is the smartest, funniest, most patient friend you can get in book form without that book actually being haunted.” – Kristin Chirico, senior editor, BuzzFeed
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
“Womanskills is packed with helpful techniques and tips for cooking, money matters, style, relationships, home improvement, and more. It can help you with advice for how to end a toxic friendship and finding a bra that actually fits. You can turn to it when you get the itch to DIY a new wine rack or chalkboard wall. Or you can flip through to answer those nagging questions like, you know, “why do my houseplants keep dying?”
While you’ll find plenty of woman-to-woman information (fighting off cramps, cleaning your makeup brushes, and learning to say “no” to name a few), you’ll also find skills to make you more of a badass, like learning how to grill a perfect steak, figuring out how to find a stud in the wall, understanding the stock market, and knowing how to snake a drain. Whether you’re headed to a birthday party and need to wrap that odd-shaped present in a hurry or you need a download on whiskey before book club, Womanskills has you covered.”
I honestly thought that this book was awesome! It’s full of tips for everything from social skills to creative skills to culinary skills. Basically, everything that you can think of!
Some of the tips are for basic things that we should all know like how to take a nap and how to use a hammer without whacking your thumb.
Some of the things are actually pretty useful like how to snake a drain and how to find a stud in a wall (I thought that was nifty because I didn’t know how to do those things, haha!)
Some of the things are also just cool like how to re-cover throw pillows and how to add lace to your clothes.
This book was also full of satire – which I loved! I thought that it was hilarious and I was actually literally laughing out loud at parts of it.
It has tips about so many things, though. Even though some of the stuff was sort of silly and things we already know, it was entertaining to read. A lot of it was actually pretty helpful too. It’s a nice book to just keep handy in case you have a question about almost anything. It’s full of ALL THE TIPS.
I also think it would be a great gift for a girl graduating high school or college. It’s a fun book and they might actually learn some real-world knowledge from it too (how to negotiate a raise, how to be happy being single, how to host a dinner party.)
In short, this book was entertaining, funny, and pretty empowering! You’ll never need to ask a man for help – not that you needed to anyway. 😀
