Coconut oil is always in supply at my house. I keep a big jar in the bathroom for so many beauty needs. You can literally use it for almost anything – that’s why I love it!
It’s no surprise that I love coconut oil so much since my mom swears by it. I’ve probably heard almost every use for it from cooking to beauty. But I kind of just use it for beauty purposes. I love it since it’s a natural alternative to many things, but it also works so well.
You’ve probably heard at least a couple of the benefits of coconut oil before – whether it was for food, beauty, or something else. But maybe you haven’t tried it for yourself, or maybe you haven’t even heard any of the benefits yet.
Either way, today I thought I’d share my 5 FAVORITE beauty uses for coconut oil. All of these are things that I personally use it for, and I hope you experience the benefits of it too! Here are 5 awesome ways you can use coconut oil in your beauty routine! Click To Tweet
1.) Makeup remover: My eyes are super sensitive when it comes to makeup removers. I’ve tried pretty much everything possible and I’ve found only 3 things that work for me – Pond’s cold cream, Simple cleansing wipes, and coconut oil. It’s great for removing waterproof makeup too. Plus, it’s a great moisturizer!
2.) Hair mask: This is what I originally used coconut oil for. My hair tends to get frizzy sometimes, so a coconut oil treatment does wonders for it. I just split my hair into sections, rub a small amount of oil between my hands until it melts, and apply it to my hair from roots to ends. Then I comb it, wrap it up or put it in a shower cap, and let it set for 15 minutes. Then I just wash it out.
3.) Oil pulling: Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties so it makes for a great “mouthwash”. I just put a spoonful of it in my mouth and swish it for about 10-ish minutes. It can help freshen your breath, whiten your teeth, improve your gum health, and prevent decay. It’s tastes kind of weird though, so be prepared!
4.) Lip balm: I put some coconut oil in a small container like these and carry it around with me during the colder months, when my lips get super chapped. Since it’s pretty solid at room temperature, it makes a GREAT lip balm.
5.) Shaving oil: I also use coconut oil to shave my legs and underarms sometimes. It’s pretty simple – just use it as you would use any shaving product. It makes a great shaving cream, plus it leaves my legs so silky-smooth, so that’s always a bonus!
