I’ve talked before on the blog about free ways to invest in yourself. Investing in yourself is important for so many reasons. It helps encourage personal growth, positive mental health, and overall well-being.
Even if you don’t have tons of time or money to spend investing in yourself, there are still things you can do. I do things to invest in myself that fit well into my schedule and budget.
So, today I thought I’d share the best ways I invest in myself!
I’m someone who LOVES to learn and I aim to be a life-long learner. I haven’t been to college, but I still educate myself in many ways. Whether it’s about self-improvement or my interests, I love investing in myself by educating myself. I usually do this with books, courses, podcasts, and blogs. Here are a few of my favorites!
- Courses – There are tons of great courses on Skillshare – not just for self-improvement but also for business, art, and more. Skillshare is free but you can get a free month of Premium membership if you use this link to sign up!
- Podcasts – I use Spotify to listen to all kinds of podcasts and some of my favorites for self-improvement are The Perfectionism Project, Happier, and The Marie Forleo Podcast.
- Blogs – Blogs are probably my favorite way to learn when it comes to personal development, and some of my favorites are It’s All You Boo, Life Goals Mag, and Contentment Questing.
Health & wellness:
This is the investment that I probably struggle with the most. We all know that we should eat healthily and exercise but it can be hard, right? Lately, I’ve been following the diet plan laid out in A Mind of Your Own, even though it includes pricier food choices. But investing in your health is SO worth it. Even with just the small changes I’ve made so far, I honestly feel like it’s improved my mental health a bit already.
Getting a gym membership honestly helped me stick to my workouts so much better but since we’ve moved, I haven’t found a gym around here. But I’ve found workout videos on YouTube (these are my favorite right now) and it’s really helped me stick to my workouts better. The key to a successful workout routine is finding a form of exercise that works for YOU. I’ve also been looking for some good, inexpensive equipment for home workouts if anyone has any recommendations! 🙂
I also invest in self-care for my mental and physical health!
Happiness is important and I definitely invest a lot in my happiness. The biggest ways that I do this is by investing in my spiritual life and my hobbies. My relationship with God is a huge part of my happiness and who I am so I make time each day to read the Bible, pray and meditate. I’m also searching for the right church in our new area.
Hobbies are another big part of my happiness so I find ways to invest in them. Creativity is important to my mental health so I invest time and money in making art, writing, and doing DIY projects to make my home prettier. I also invest time in playing video games to give myself a mental break, haha.
This one kind of ties in with my happiness, but I also invest in myself by investing time and money into my work. This blog is SO important to me and it’s something that I’ve put a lot of time and money into. It’s something that I work on pretty much every single day and I actually wrote a whole post about the best blog investments I’ve made.
I put a lot of time into the daily stuff like writing, graphics, social media, email, photos, etc. But I also invest money into my blog design, an email marketing provider, a Pinterest management tool, and other things. But if you’re passionate about your job, it’s definitely worth investing into!
